Accreditation
With the growing availability of online degrees—many associated with colleges that have long had traditional campuses as well, it’s fair to ask, “is The University of Phoenix accredited?” The answer is, yes. The University of Phoenix (UOP) Online is one of the leading online universities and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. In addition, many of the individual programs have separate accreditation, which means that nearly any program you choose will enable you to earn a degree just as valuable as those at traditional schools.

For example, the Business programs, which include the coveted MBA, the Doctor of Arts in Business Administration, and numerous other business degrees, are accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
The Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, while the education program is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council. Check out the school website for accreditation on other programs.

Faculty
UOP maintains high standards not only in its programs but also among the faculty. UOP has about 1500 core faculty members and another 20,000 associate faculty who work with students from thousands of remote locations across the country, including Hawaii and Alaska. These highly educated instructors maintain a continuous inquiry into their own fields and are often actually working in the fields in which they teach. Thus they know how to apply real life solutions to problems and situations that a person would actually see on the job. However, these individuals are distant only geographically. All of the faculty are ready and willing to assist a student through email, chat forums and other avenues set up for easy communication.
Campuses and Courses
UOP actually started as a traditional college in Phoenix, Arizona. The University now has over 200 physical campuses across the country which operate primarily as commuting centers. That is, even those students who choose to attend one of the campus centers continue to live at home. Many courses are also structured to allow you to continue working. For example, a course might meet only one evening per week or only at the beginning and end of the course, leaving you to complete the course work online. Yet, the University offers 117 degrees and programs. Of course, the entire UOP catalog may not be available at every campus location, but the availability of online study makes nearly any of the programs available to you at nearly any location.
Financing
College is expensive; even online programs are not what you would usually consider “cheap.” Nevertheless, the tuition is usually about half of what it would be if you were getting the same education and living on a campus. In addition, numerous methods of financing can be utilized including the familiar TAP and PELL grants, scholarships, student loans, tuition reimbursements (through an employer), the GI bill for former military individuals and more. And just as you can take one class or two at a time, you can also pay for your education in smaller, more manageable bites. The financial advisors are just as dedicated as the faculty and will help you find the money to fund your program.
