and to improve the lives of citizens in our global community.
Responsibilities
of a Public Health Professional
The emphasis for a public health professional is on the health
of entire communities rather than on individuals. The field
encompasses multiple aspects of medicine and dentistry along
with law, education, behavioral and social sciences and more.
The public health official works to prevent disease and to
promote wellness rather than to simply treat various illnesses.
Your job, therefore, could be to monitor populations at risk
for disease, to connect people with health services and to
educate communities regarding healthy living, occupational
safety, and nutritional habits.
The following are
just a few of the many positions/titles you could have as
a public health professional:

–and many more.

services office, for a government agency, in a state or community
health center, for a non-profit agency, for a university or
research firm or even for a pharmaceutical company. If you
are willing to travel, you could find yourself leading a team
to study and collect information on the impact or prevalence
of diseases, health conditions, or health needs in communities
around the globe. This is one career that will let you go
wherever your imagination takes you, and with the global changes
in health awareness and medical practices, the field isn't
likely to be saturated any time soon.

or action that will impact the health of your chosen community.
It won't happen overnight, but you will be in the position
to make it happen and you'll be noticed when it does.
Starting salaries
for those with a Master's degree in Public Health range from
$32,000 to $80,000 depending on the agency you work for and
