You will strengthen your own doctrinal beliefs even as you learn how to help others apply Christian principles to an increasingly secular, indifferent society.

Liberty University refers to itself as a "Christian Distance Learning University," but the school was actually founded in 1971 as a Christian liberal arts university in Lynchburg Virginia. The school began offering distance education programs in 1985, and now is the largest non-profit online educational institution.

The school has over 50,000 students all across the United States. Students enjoy the flexible schedule, the affordable tuition with easy payment options. The school is also military friendly, making it easy for those committed to service to our country to achieve their educational goals.

In addition to the degrees in ministry and counseling, Liberty University Online offers specializations and / or degrees in disciplines such as business, education, and nursing. The programs are geared for a career, not merely to give you a piece of paper. Knowledgeable staff are within easy reach of email or phone and are there to ensure that once you start the program, you will graduate. To make things easier for those who are not native English speakers, LU now offers many of the programs in Spanish. Students must reside in the continental United States.

Due to its emphasis as a Christian, evangelical school, some of LU's most popular programs are in religious studies where you can earn a minor in Bible Studies or an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Religion. For those whose primary goal is some form of Christian Ministry, you will want to check out the Seminary where you can take your bachelor's degree to the next level with several different Master's degrees or with the Doctor of Ministry or Ph.D of Theology and Apologetics. For those in the military, they even have a Master of Divinity-Chaplaincy.

Although LU tuition is considered low, you may still need financial assistance. If you are working, consider corporate assistance through your work first as that is often the easiest source of funding. Other options include Stafford Loans, the Virginian Tuition Assistance Grant, PELL, and other scholarships. Contact the student financial aid office as a part of your application for admission.
